Haiti: Video stories

Here is a series of character-driven video stories I produced recently for the American Red Cross in Haiti, showing the recovery of people and communities affected by the 2010 earthquake.

Dominique, an artist in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is one of 75 entrepreneurs honing their business and marketing skills through the American Red Cross. These business owners learn how to define their market, assess their advantage over the competition, and reach out to new customers.

Through an American Red Cross program, Widleine teaches masons and foremen how to build houses that are more resistant to earthquakes, hurricanes, or other natural disasters.

Junior recently moved from a tent in a camp to a safe, earthquake-resistant home in the Carrefour area of Port-au-Prince.

Women in Port-au-Prince are supporting one another’s small businesses through self-run savings groups. Supported by the Red Cross, the women lend one another money and get to see their own (and others’) dreams come true.
